The Hole

Watching the movie gave a depressing feeling of isolation.
The cold colours and abandoned props were the main reasons why. Both characters were disconnected from life, living on their own with hardly any communication from the outside world.
The scenes surround their apartments and the wet market, showing the closed-off way they live.

The stray cat that the male character seemed to care for probably symbolized how lonely he was. He lacked interaction and connection in his life and being in physical contact with the cat was a way of making up for that. Smoking was also a way for him to de stress and overcome his emptiness.
